- Internetworking With TCP/IP - Volume I; Principles, Protocols and Architecture
- Douglas E. Comer
- Prentice Hall 1991
- pp. 547
- [ computer science ]
-
- An introduction to the internal workings of the Internet: everything from
- ARP through routing protocols to specifications for mail headers. There is
- a lot in this book, but it is very clearly written and doesn't assume any
- prior knowledge of networking.
-
- I would recommend this to any internet user who was interested in how the
- the thing actually works. It's not light reading, but it avoids unnecessary
- detail and sticks to the essentials, with summaries of key points and lots
- of diagrams.
